A flue liner is a metal tube that is inserted into the existing chimney and may be needed for a number of reasons including:
1) Chimney's built since 1965 can have the clay liners installed incorrectly which is a very common problem.
2) Condensates or tar seeping through the chimney (common with wood burning stoves).
3) Flue leaking smoke & fumes into other rooms.
4) The flue is too cold and not drawing properly (often against outside walls).
5) The old flue is eroded causing frictional resistance to the flow of gases causing poor up draught.
6). The flue is too large for the type of fire/appliance being used and needs reducing in size.
